about

"Efzeg's music unfolds slowly through successive waves. The band covers a wide volume palette, going from the almost inaudible to deafening noise rage. Each improvisation bears a distinctive organic character, and that may be the most important element of the "Austrian" sound in late-'90s experimental music. Grain is very representative of this aesthetic and a very nice piece of work. "

Worth of note is the fact that for one rare occasion in Durian's production, the booklet has a little note in it (Durian booklets usually disclose strictly minimal information), a political stand that must be read in the light of what happened in Austria in early 2000: "Efzeg repudiates acclaim from anyone not repudiating the present Austrian government."
